What We Are About...
Our Mission: "Children's Village is a Christian children’s home that shares God’s love and strengthens our community by providing healing and hope for neglected and abused boys and girls.”
Childhood is a very special time of growing and developing. From an early age, it is, in large part, one’s childhood environment that shapes how productive and responsible one will be as an adult. Most children are fortunate to be raised in warm and secure environments where parents provide the love and discipline so vital to growth and development. But what about children who aren't so fortunate?
Children’s Village exists to help children from Northeast Texas who are neglected, abused or homeless and need our care. For over 30 years, we have provided 24 hour residential care in two family-style living homes on a rural campus setting along with two transitional living apartments. Our homes are co-ed so we can serve sibling groups, as we see it important that siblings stay together for support and security whenever possible. Children’s Village is dedicated to offering healing and we help youth who, because of family dysfunction and abuse, find their lives, values, relationships and hopes for the future shattered by their present circumstances.
At Children’s Village, children are measured by their potential rather than their past. It’s here – in a caring family setting that abused, homeless and at-risk children have a second chance at childhood and an opportunity to rediscover their self-respect and develop into healthy, happy and productive adults. Boys and girls learn positive family values and enhance their social skills; they grow up spiritually and achieve academic success all through the example and teaching of caring staff.
Children’s Village hires married couples to live in its homes to model a traditional family and to teach children traditional family values in a nurturing and supportive environment to restore children’s trust.
Children’s Village is a charity. The boys and girls who come into care at Children’s Village have no family financial resources or State sponsorship and Children’s Village does not receive state or federal funds. Therefore, we rely almost exclusively on local contributions from concerned individuals, churches, civic organizations, businesses and foundations to meet the daily needs of the children in care.
